Nokia Conspiracy
that hurts, really

My handphone had a "sudden death" yesterday morning. The alarm went off as usual; I pressed a button to stop it as usual; slept for another 5 seconds as usual; opened my eyes and saw my hp screen showing some unusual volumn bar. And that's it. All buttons malfunctioned except for the on/off switch. Classic sudden death.

It took a while (imagine how sleepy i was still!!) for the fact to sink in... ... ... ... "My handphone is broken!!!!" The sudden death of my most essential gadget has led to the even "sudden-er" realization of abysmal doom...

I took apart all the components that I could, twice, in attempt to fix it. But of course it can't be this easy. Finally it's time for the Nokia mothership to summon my batch of 6610s home for some after-sale blood-sucking, with unstoppable deviltry.

Just like what they do to the previous ones -- Two years after purchase, perfectly working keypad becomes total junk overnight -- so the rumor about the infamous nokia conspiracy is true. If it's not the keypad, it will be the screen; if not the screen, then something else, in one way or another, the Nokia phone will be spoilt after about two years. The repair back inside the Nokia "care" center seldomly took more than a day. The technicians are too familiar with the problem to even bother explaining the cause of this sudden death to you. They are just glad that they can again share a certain percentage of the repair fee... Well, I'll remind them just one phrase that Phoebe used in FRIENDS: "this money is cursed".

After this incident, for the very first time, I opened to the option of changing my handphone to other brands.
